Supporting an elderly parent from a distance brings a unique kind of challenge – especially when navigating dementia. When you’re a carer, your time, energy, and headspace are constantly stretched to the limit. It’s exhausting searching for solutions, and deeply disheartening when something you’ve tried doesn’t work out or only works for a short while.
I look after my dad, who lives far away, and my main goal has always been to help him stay safe, comfortable, and independent in his own home for as long as possible. Along the way, we’ve tried, tested, and researched so many different tools, gadgets, and routines.
When you’re tired and brain-frazzled, it’s hard to think outside the box or find the energy to research. That’s why I wanted to get all the knowledge whizzing around in my head down in one place to share with you.
